Innsbruck-Igles, Austria
When the Innsbruck-Igls Olympic Bobsleigh Track was built for the 1976 Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck it was the world's most technologically advanced track. For the first time one track was used for both bobsleigh and luge events. As the world's first combined track it has served as a model for later facilities and greatly influenced the development of skeleton racing.
The 1,270 m track has a vertical drop of approx. 100 meters from start to finish. There are 14 curves (one of which is a loop) with a maximum bank height of seven meters.
Today the Innsbruck-Igls Olympic Bobsleigh Track is host to European and World Championships as well as World Cup and Challenge races for all bobsleigh, luge and skeleton events.
